A Cupcake-tastical Birthday!-Part 1 of 2

It has been a VERY busy time for Little Miss Cupcake.  I baked 3 different kinds of cupcakes last week, AND it was my birthday!!  My amazing friend and co-worker Patty gave me a surprise cupcake on my birthday,

and I was sooooooo happy.  It was a lemon cake with raspberry buttercream, from Cupcakes! in Vienna, VA.  I LOVE the color combo, but the frosting was a trifle too sweet.  Frosting is tricky though.  Very tough to keep it from turning too sweet. 

My next great adventure, on Saturday, was planned around getting a princess cupcake at Hello Cupcake in Dupont Circle.  We arrived, at 8:30 PM to discover they were completely sold out of cupcakes and my heart was broken.  Luckily, right across the road was a Krispy Kreme, AND the HOT DONUTS sign was lit! While cupcakes are my #1 passion, I am a sucker for all things sweet.  Specifically?  Ice cream and donuts.  My friends encourage this madness with gifts of ice cream machines and deep fryers, which helps me make delicious desserts  Anywho, that Krispy Kreme donut made my night.  There is nothing in this world as wonderful as a hot Krispy Kreme donut.
