Even East End boys and West End girls like cupcakes.

On the title-if you aren't familiar with the Pet Shop Boys classic, please do us all a favor and acquaint yourself here-> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3j2NYZ8FKs

Little Miss Cupcake has gone INTERNATIONAL!!  I spent a lot of time trying to find storefront cupcakeries in England prior to my visit, and had some trouble.  There are loads of sites dedicated to home bakers who will deliver, but I had a harder time finding one with a storefront.  I decided to hope I could find one in person.  I don't always believe in events being written in the stars, but in this case, they most definitely were!!  Where I stayed in London, just steps away was a cupcakery!!!!!  My delight cannot be understated.

Buttercup was closed Sunday, and our wonderfulm London hostess went over Monday to pick up cupcakes.  I specifically wanted a banana split cupcake.
The banana split cupcake is in the top left.  I also had the red velvet, just below it.  These people know their cupcakes-the flavor was great.  The frosting was a bit sweeter than I care for, but my real issue was with the flavor combination in the banana split cupcake.  It was a banana cake with chocolate chips, topped with chocolate frosting, chocolate sprinkles, and a banana chip.  What happened to vanilla?  Or strawberry?  Rather than stay discouraged, I got to thinking.  I am currently testing out TWO banana split recipes with the munchkins (I am an after-school program teacher).  Stay tuned to hear about our version!!
